The South City Kitchen is hosting “The Power of Pinot” next Thursday night - November 6th from 6:30 to 8:30. The South City Kitchen is a very popular local restaurant that hosts fantastic events like this one on a regular basis. This is so much more than just a dinner party as each meal  has been specifically chosen to pair with a specific wine. As the title of the event suggests, the wines are all Pinots - Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. Let’s start with the passed hors d’oeuvres - chopped chicken liver profiteroles and picled beet and country ham skewer with pear - that have been carefully selected to bring out the flavor of a 2004 Domaine-Schlumberger Pinot Blanc from Alsace, France. Next you will move onto the first course of pan-fried Georgia mountain trout with grapefruit butter sauce and crisp capers, which is paired with a 2006 Solena Pinot Gris from Oregon. The second course is set to bring out the flavors of a 2006 Domaine Alfred “Goss Creek” Pinot Noir from the Central Coast, and include a braised lamb shoulder with roasted tomatoes, cured olives, dried cherries and Carolina plantation mushroom risotto. Dessert is definitely something you will not want to miss as the featured wine will be Greut Brut Rose Sparkling Pinot Noir from New Mexico. This tantilizing beverage will pair exceptionally with the warm pear crisp with cardamon sorghum ice cream.
