This Sunday is your final opportunity to experience the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s annual Orchid Daze. This year’s Orchid Daze combines the beauty of the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s world-renowned Orchid collection with extraordinary pieces of art glass curated by Seranda Vespermann of Vespermann-Cooper Gallery. 11 well-known artists from around the United States have provided the artwork which will be available for purchase in the Garden Gift Shop. Thanks to the Atlanta History Center, you can take a tour of three historic homes including the Swan House. The mansion, designed by famed Atlanta architect Philip Trammell Shutze, is one of the most recognized landmarks in Atlanta and provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Edward H. Inman Family who lived there from 1928 – 1965. Today the clasically styled mansion is open for audio and guided tours seven days a week. This Saturday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., join the Piedmont Park Conservancy and the Atlanta Audubon Society on their monthly bird walk held the first Saturday of each month. The walk is free to the public and allows participants to explore the varied habitats found throughout Piedmont Park. To participate, meet at the Community Center located at 1071 Piedmont Ave., near the 12th Street gate entrance a little before 8:00 a.m. Parking at the Community Center is limited, so save gas and money by carpooling or taking MARTA.
