History for Kids

The word “museum” often conjures up thoughts of boring exhibits, a lot of reading and a few hours of listening to a  man with a monotone voice drone on about something that happened 500 years before you were born. The Cobb County Youth Museum breaks the stereotype.

The Cobb County Youth Museum is a participatory, interactive tour that  involves children in the learning experience by  letting the kids role-play historical events. The museum docents dress in period clothing and let the children dress up as well in authentic clothes to act out a part of history. Elaborate props and authentic details make this a one-of-a-kind tour through history.

As the exhibits in the museum  change to fit each new theme, the curriculum changes as well to make sure it is up to date with what the kids are learning in school. The current theme is “America’s Pathways to Independence.” All (more…)

Restaurant Eugene Chef Named Best New Chef by Food & Wine

Linton HopkinsResidents of the Astoria at Aramore have enjoyed great meals at Restaurant Eugene, which is located on the bottom floor of the Aramore building, for years but now Atlanta’s best-kept secret is out. Restaurant Eugene’s head chef, Linton Hopkins, was recently named in July’s Best New Chef issue of Food & Wine magazine. The criteria to decide the best new chefs consisted of cooking food that is personal, creative and delicious. Editors visit these restaurants anonymously to secret judge the meals and the chef.
