Celebrating Charles Steele, Jr.

Mayor Pittman and Charles SteeleThroughout the country Americans celebrated Black History month and the individuals who fought for equality and freedom for all. One of the individuals recognized was Charles Steele, Jr., Ph.D.

Kairos Development Corporation and 1 Joshua Group paid tribute to Dr. Steele in a special celebration held at the historic Jefferson Station in East Point late February. Several Atlanta dignitaries were in attendance including Mayer Earnestine Pittman who proclaimed the day “Charles Steele, Jr. Day.”

Throughout his life Steele has worked to improve the quality of life and livability for his constituents. The former CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was the first African American elected to the City Council of Tuscaloosa and one of the first African Americans elected to the Alabama State Senate. Office of Child Support Services Relocating to Jefferson Station

jefferson-station-ext_00031Welcome Office of Child Support Services to Jefferson Station at Buggy Works! A division of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, the Office of Child Support Services recently signed a 10-year lease and relocated several of their offices to Jefferson Station located in historic East Point. The Office of Child Support Services is designed to help children by enforcing parental responsibility to pay  financial support. They have rented 29,000 square feet of the entire 70,000 square feet of “Class A” loft office space available and join the City of East Point which already has several office located at Jefferson Station. Child Support Services’ new office location provides ease of access for staff as well as streamlines processes for state services. (more…)

Jefferson Station Proudly Welcomes the City of East Point

jefferson-station-ext_0003-small.jpgLast month, the City of East Point relocated many of their offices to Jefferson Station, a historic loft building developed by Kairos Development Corporation in downtown East Point. On Sept. 12, the City hosted an Open House for residents and city staff. East Point Mayor, the Honorable Joseph L. Macon and Crandall O. Jones, Interim City Manager of the City of East Point were among the staff and residents in attendance. The City of East Point now occupies over 23,900 square feet of office space in Jefferson Station, providing ease of access for city staff and residents, as well as streamlined processes for city services.

The following city offices are now located at Jefferson Station: Accounting/Cashier Office, Office of the City Clerk, Office of City Grants, Contracts and Procurement, Economic Development, Electric Utility Administration, (more…)

City of East Point Moves to Jefferson Station

Jefferson Station offers Loft Office Space in Historical East PointKairos Development’s office building at Jefferson Stations is so appealing that the City of East Point is relocating several departments from their current offices to the new development Jefferson Station at Buggy Works. Over 23,900 square feet will be occupied by the City Clerk, Human Resources, Finance, Government Operations, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Economic Development and Purchasing. Moving in on August 1st, these city offices will reside in Jefferson Station for at least five years. It’s a rather big honor for Kairos Development to have such support from the City in their development of the historic industrial district.

Jefferson Station at Buggy Works is a four-story, historic factory building that was originally constructed in 1930 and offers office space in East Point. (more…)
