If you haven’t been to an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert, you need to be there. These talented musicians will blow your mind with their musical stylings. The ASO will also be performing Aaron Jay Kernis’ “Musica Celestis” and Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony No. 6

You might also be interested in checking out the 10th annual Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. Happening on January 13-24, the festival will screen fifty films, including “Camera Obscura”  at various venues across Atlanta.

The play is set to perform January 26-31 so hurry and get your tickets before it’s too late.

History for Kids

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

The word “museum” often conjures up thoughts of boring exhibits, a lot of reading and a few hours of listening to a  man with a monotone voice drone on about something that happened 500 years before you were born. The Cobb County Youth Museum breaks the stereotype.

The Cobb County Youth Museum is a participatory, interactive tour that  involves children in the learning experience by  letting the kids role-play historical events. The museum docents dress in period clothing and let the children dress up as well in authentic clothes to act out a part of history. Elaborate props and authentic details make this a one-of-a-kind tour through history.

As the exhibits in the museum  change to fit each new theme, the curriculum changes as well to make sure it is up to date with what the kids are learning in school. The current theme is “America’s Pathways to Independence.” All (more…)

Do Something Wicked this Halloween

Friday, October 24th, 2008

wicked_oct.jpgPerfectly in time for the Halloween season, the Fox Theatre is proud to welcome Wicked, the smash-hit that has impressed audiences all over the nation. I am sure you are very familiar with the story of Dorothy and the Wicked Witch of the East from the Wizard of Oz. Well, there is more to that story than meets the eye, and it just may be that the Wicked Witch of the East wasn’t so “wicked” after all. So, be sure to head to the Fox for a fun-filled musical that retells one of the most famous stories of all time. The last time this extraordinary musical made its way to the Fabulous Fox Theatre, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Back for a longer run, Wicked is currently at the Fox until November 2nd and tickets are still available. A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of seats is held daily. Just show up two and one-half hours prior to show time to enter your name in the drawing. Keep in mind that residents at the Astoria will be able to conveniently take advantage of Atlanta events such as this.
