Throughout the country Americans celebrated Black History month and the individuals who fought for equality and freedom for all. One of the individuals recognized was Charles Steele, Jr., Ph.D.

Kairos Development Corporation and 1 Joshua Group paid tribute to Dr. Steele in a special celebration held at the historic Jefferson Station in East Point late February. Several Atlanta dignitaries were in attendance including Mayer Earnestine Pittman who proclaimed the day “Charles Steele, Jr. Day.”

Throughout his life Steele has worked to improve the quality of life and livability for his constituents. The former CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was the first African American elected to the City Council of Tuscaloosa and one of the first African Americans elected to the Alabama State Senate. Congratulations to the Astoria at the Aramore for their recent win of the “Award of Excellence.” Given by Southeast Construction Magazine at their Best Of 2009 Awards ceremony, the “Award of Excellence” honors construction and design excellence in the four-state region of Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

This year’s competition was held in Orlando and was the largest to date with nearly 200 entries. All were hoping to take home top honors in 20 different categories based on construction type. The Astoria at the Aramore was recognized in the Multifamily Residential/Hospitality, under $100 million category.

Debbie Sonenshine is the winner of a $2,500 AMEX card from Kairos Development.  Jack Williams, Kairos founder and business director presented Debbie a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realtor the card at her office in Sandy Springs on August 24.

The AMEX giveaway was part of a Kairos Development incentive for Realtors to learn more about Kairos Development Corporation’s properties. The winner was drawn at random from more than 300 entrants.

“I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had won the AMEX card,” said Sonenshine. “My 36th wedding anniversary is coming up, so I plan to treat myself on our trip to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina.”

Welcome Office of Child Support Services to Jefferson Station at Buggy Works! A division of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, the Office of Child Support Services recently signed a 10-year lease and relocated several of their offices to Jefferson Station located in historic East Point. The Office of Child Support Services is designed to help children by enforcing parental responsibility to pay  financial support. They have rented 29,000 square feet of the entire 70,000 square feet of “Class A” loft office space available and join the City of East Point which already has several office located at Jefferson Station.
